Dosa Hut Fourways in Sandton

"It was our first time trying the Saturday buffet and the food was pleasantly good overall. At R99 per person, the buffet offers 5 curries (mostly vegetarian with one chicken option), a variety of starches, one hot dessert, and a selection of budget juices, chai, and instant coffee options, which is good value. Unfortunately, most of the items were cold or at room temperature as the bain-maries didn’t seem to have enough heat to keep the food warm. A small side dish or some pickles would also have been a nice addition to complement the meal. The chai was a little disappointing as I expected a deeper, richer flavour from an authentic Indian restaurant. That said, the place looked beautiful and the staff were very helpful and super friendly. The dosa was freshly made and wonderful, and the eggs were also delicious. The hot pudding dessert was a lovely way to end the meal. We will definitely return, but next time we’ll go earlier in the service to enjoy the food while it’s still hot and have a bit more time to savour the experience."

"We decided to have a South Indian dinner at the Dosa Hut. There is a large parking lot with plenty of free open air parking available. The restaurant has a ramp for wheelchairs and stairs for others. Upon arrival, the restaurant looks warm and inviting. There were plenty of seating available so we were seated promptly. Our waiter Paul was friendly and polite. We placed our order for the starters which when arrived was nicely presented. The mains took a little longer to come out but it was piping hot. The food and the dessert was tasty and we enjoyed it. Overall experience was good so we will be sure to return!"

"The Fourways branch of Dosa Hut is indeed the flagship of the South Indian restaurant brand. On this, our first visit, we navigated using Google Maps, and directions were spot on. We did have a slight challenge seeing the storefront signage, but the rest of our dining experience more than made up for that. It was a warm welcome by Manager, Vinesh, to a cosy and well-designed restaurant that would suit couples, small and even larger groups in several private dining areas. They also have an outdoor, shaded dining area out front. Bathrooms are spacious and well maintained, and they also have tall glass gas heaters, and infant seats. I loved what looked like solid wooden tables. I needed a chair cushion, and was quickly assisted - kudos for that! The waiters were amazingly good, and we were served by Donald, and were chuffed by his great sense of humour. We went there especially for Whole Kerala Fry Fish, and got more than we expected. That fish was huge - and tastily spiced & prepared. I also enjoyed almost all of a super tasty, very generously-sized Sugar Beans Bunny Chow, and the leftovers were kindly packed in foil. All in all, it was an excellent, dining experience, in a safe and highly recommend venue."

"We came with friends here, and it was a pleasant culinary experience. We tried some vegetarian dishes like curry, vada, Tomato rice, kappa and dosa as well. By the way, for the ones a bit sensitive to strong food, probably mild dishes will be fine to order, since we ordered the medium ones, and they were hot! Heard from a friend they do have a Sunday breakfast buffet for R90 per person; I'm willing to try it one day!"
